Daddy's Sandcastle
Probably my favourite page that I did while on my trip...I think because it was so different from what I usually do. There was a family on the beach next to us, and they were having so much fun building this sandcastle, although Daddy was doing probably having the most fun.
Zendala
A cross between a zentangle doodle and a mandala. So fun to do! And I like keeping it contained in a circle. Painted with watercolour pencils.
Brown Page
I loved this print - I found it in an art catalog. I used gesso as a base for my flowers, then painted them on top of all the papers.

Forgotten

This is what came to mind for the Illustration Friday challenge this week. I also was thinking about Fairy Tales for another journaling challenge, so it worked out really well.
SInce my acrylic paints were still on my table from the last challenge, so I chose them for my medium.

Good Golly Miss Molly
This is the first page I have done in my art journal of our new beagle puppy Molly. I took several different patterned papers and painted over them for an aged look. I also used photo-editing software to age the photographs.
She is so cute, I may have to dedicate more pages to her!
New York Journal Page
This is one of the pages in my art journal dedicated to my recent trip to New York City.
I was really happy with the gel medium transfer of the New York Skyline - I had never tried anything like this before, and I think it turned out really cool!
And yes, I got to see Jersey Boys - it was AMAZING!

Fairy in a Jar
A fairy in a jar. So much fun! I made her wings out of transparency film. I had been meaning to do one of these ever since I had seen them on the web. At the last Pointy Hat Art Posse meeting, lovely Miss Galm brought her fairy in a jar, and I realized that the time had come for me to do this project!
And by the way, this fairy bears a startling resemblance to a young Miss Arla Mortimer, my beautiful grandmother, who passed away in 1995.
